My name is Axelle Hillewaere, 26 years old and I'm a catlover based in Newport (Belgium). I love building web and software applications, starting from
an empty code sheet to a fully functional and beautiful product. Regarding back-end development, I develop within the ASP.NET Core (MVC) framework, using C# and MS SQL.
Alongside a fully functioning code, User Interface and an elegant design is an essential element. For this reason, I spend a lot of attention to front-end
Through the years, I walked a kind of diverse traject. When I finished my secondary education, I started the study Applied Psychology
at HOWEST Bruges. I completed this Bachelor study in 2014 and subsequently started the transition program Master of Science in Communication Science.
As specialization, I chose New Media & Society. Due to this study, I gained insight into the role that communication - and media in particular -
plays in our contemporary and future society. Furthermore, I developed quantitative and qualitative research skills which gave me the opportunity to become a
specialist in the critical and nuanced analysis of communication.
In 2017, I graduated with honors from Ghent University but felt like I was missing - beside the focus on user research - the more practical side of new media.
I had the ambition to develop software or mobile applications by myself. Partly for this reason, I started the HBO5 Informatics - Programmer study at
HOWEST / IVO Bruges. It may sound cliché but this was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. While completing this education, I noticed
some sparkle was settling inside of me. Later on, I was able to discover that this sparkle was actually my new passion: I get satisfaction
to start from an empty project to build a new web application, with the aim of making each project unique.
Analyzing problems and programming innovative software and website applications. Go to the section 'Projects' to discover my work.
